  • Obituary, C. Langhammer, 4/2/1908, p. 5. Charles Langhammer, died 3/28/1908 at home in Bellville. Born in Bohemia, entered Confederate Army at age 17 as a member of Waul's Legion. "After three terms [as Austin County tax collector] he retired and entered the mercantile business, and a few years later was again tax collector and subsequently represented the county in the state legislature."
