- Biographical sketch and portrait, Colonel Edward Rowzee Hord, pp. 109-111. Born 3/24/1826, died 6/23/1869 in Brownsville. After Mexican War, settled in Starr County and became first Starr County Clerk and in 1851, represented Starr County in Legislature. Accepted position of Collector of Customs in 1864 for the port of Brownsville, "States-Rights Democrat and favored the cause of secession." Genealogy of the Hord Family, 1898.
