HBA-NRS H.B. 2064 77(R) BILL ANALYSIS Office of House Bill AnalysisH.B. 2064 By: Eiland Transportation 4/23/2001 Introduced BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Currently, the is no deadline imposed on the executive director of the Texas Department of Transportation (director) in making a decision on an application for a memorial designation for a law enforcement officer who died in the line of duty. House Bill 2064 requires the director to make a decision on an application for a memorial designation not later than the 60th day after the date the application is submitted. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY It is the opinion of the Office of House Bill Analysis that this bill does not expressly delegate any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution. ANALYSIS House Bill 2064 amends the Transportation Code to require the executive director of the Texas Department of Transportation to make a decision on an application for a memorial designation for a law enforcement officer who died in the line of duty not later than the 60th day after the date the application is submitted. EFFECTIVE DATE On passage, or if the Act does not receive the necessary vote, the Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
