Charges

Investigate the transfer of the Governor's Committee on Aging to the Department of Community Affairs and the future organization of the Committee on Aging.

Evaluate the effectiveness of the delivery of federal funds and services since the reorganization of the Department of Community Affairs.

To determine what state initiatives can be taken to obtain funding from the federal government, state sources, or private organizations for solving the economic, social, health and other problems found in the colonias of South Texas.

Study child adoption services in Texas with emphasis on the special needs of hard-to-place children and fee systems.

Monitor the reorganization of the Commission for the Deaf.

Monitor the investigation of the Commission for the Blind.

Oversight functions shall be conducted for all appropriations-related actions of those agencies assigned to this committee for appropriative purposes during the 66th Regular Session of the Legislature. The agencies include:
Texas Department of Human Resources (less Medical Services)
Veterans Affairs Commission
Texas Rehabilitation Commission
Commission for the Blind
Texas Commission for the Deaf
Department of Community Affairs
