Charges
- Study the Code of Criminal Procedure and the Penal Code to discover what additional improvements are necessary to combat crime.
- Assist the State Bar Association and the University of Texas Law School in drafting a revision of the Penal Code.
- Hold hearings throughout the state, explaining the problems of crime prevention and detection, and considering proposals for solving the problems from interested legislators, law enforcement personnel and the public.
- Review the legislations enacted by the 60th Legislature affecting the Code of Criminal Procedure and the Penal Code.
- Submit conclusions, together with drafts of bills and resolutions the committee finds would be helpful in making the criminal laws of the State as effective as possible, to the members of the 61st Legislature.
