Charges
- Evaluate the access to capital for small business ventures and consumers, especially in the application of state usury laws for large commercial loans. Examine whether Texas laws should be amended to better conform to the national lending environment or to make them simpler for lenders and borrowers to follow.
- Explore the limits of federal law in relation to the state's enforcement activities, regulation of terms of lending contracts, consumer protections and disclosures and the registration or licensure of entities not currently subject to state regulation so as to reduce the potential for anti-consumer lending behavior in this state.
- Monitor agencies and programs under the committee's jurisdiction and implementation of legislation passed by the 78th Legislature.
