To study state policy relating to the preservation/protection of cave systems.

To study the feasibility of the establishment of a beach preservation and nourishment program.

To study the status of the "greenhouse effect," acid rain, asbestos and other toxic air emissions in Texas.

To study the Department of Health jurisdiction relating to radiation control.

To study the feasibility of incentive programs for hazardous waste minimization and reduction.

To study the economic impact, state policy, and criminal liability in oil spills, toxic spills and other environmental accidents (joint study with Energy Committee).

To study new state solid waste management program.

To study environmental concerns related to water and groundwater quality (joint study with Natural Resources Committee and Agriculture and Livestock Committee).

To study the Parks and Wildlife Department operations and regulatory authority.

To study the potential extent of the State's liability for monetary damages under the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986 and the US Supreme Court ruling in Pennsylvania v. Union Gas Co.
