"He was chosen as a representative from Grimes county to the Thirty-second Legislature in 1910, and was on the judiciary, education and military affairs committees." "At the time of the outbreak of hostilities between the United States and Spain, Judge T.P. Buffington was a member of the Shaw Rifles, at Navasota, with which company he went to the rendezvous camp at Austin, as first lieutenant." A History of Texas and Texans, 1914.
