  • Obituary, "Death Came Suddenly to Col. Tom R. Jennings: Prominent Figure in Political Life of Texas Passed Away at La Porte. Had Eventful Career," 5/4/1910, p. 8. Death date Wednesday, 5/4/1910. "Colonel Jennings was a native of Nacogdoches, about 65 years of age, a former member of the legislature and a life-long friend of Former Governor James S. Hogg. His father before him was a prominent lawyer in the state of Texas, and in addition to being a partner of the late Tom Ochiltree, served as attorney general of the state. Col. Jennings served in the Confederate army and represented the Nacogdoches district in the state legislature when the late James S. Hogg was governor." Houston Chronicle.
