Barbee, Jr., born 1851 in Crockett and married Fannie Barker Fifer. J.G. Barbee, Jr. and Col. N.B. Barbee - brothers. "Col. N.B. Barbee was his [J.G. Barbee, Jr.] oldest brother."

Obituary, "Judge J.G. Barbee Dead at Wharton," The Houston Post, 3/18/1915, p. 8. Born 7/4/1850 in Crockett, Texas, son of Dr. J.G. Barbee and Miranda (Burrow) Barbee. "In 1893 he was elected to represent this county [Wharton] in the twenty-third assembly of the legislature. He ran for office on a sound money platform, defeating John E. Linn, the free silver candidate." Survivors include daughter Mrs. F.M.B. Hughes of Wharton and brother Colonel N.D. Barbee of Crockett.
