- CARROLL, BENJAMIN FRANKLIN, SR. (1809-1869). Handbook of Texas Online.
- B.F. Carroll, Sr., served in the Mississippi Legislature in 1847 as well as representing Navarro, Hill, Ellis and Limestone counties in the Texas Legislature in 1858. The family moved to Texas in 1847, lived three years in Harrison, then moved to Navarro County in 1851 and located at Dresden. "At the age of fifteen our subject [B.F. Carroll, Jr.] took charge of his father's blacksmith shop, the latter having resigned the hammer and sledge for a seat in the Sixth [sic] Texas Legislature." Death date 7/9/1869. Included in biographical sketch of son B.F. Carroll, pp. 649-651. A Memorial and Biographical History of Navarro, Henderson, Anderson, Limestone, Freestone and Leon Counties, Texas, 1893.
