Legislature passed HB 589, an act supplementary to an act entitled "An act to incorporate the Casino Society of Yorktown, on May 3, 1871. (printed as Chapter CLV in session laws)
Governor sent message to House on May 9, 1871 stating that the supplemental act "obviates the objection stated ... in my message" and that he is willing to withdraw his veto. House Journal Text
Also, on May 9, the House on reconsideration agreed to pass the bill. House Journal Text
Senate Committee recommends "that the Senate upon reconsideration, do not pass the bill." Senate Journal Text
